why
single
scull?
Rowing in a Single allows you to develop a strong foundation in rowing technique, gradually build your fitness levels, minimize the risk of injuries, and overall sets you up for a long-term success on a rowing journey.
We believe that practicing in a single scull boat is essential for mastering the art of rowing. If you learn to row and control the Single, you will not just be able to row in all other boat classes, but you will also row at a higher level of efficiency. The Single makes you overall a better rower.
Single Scull is appropriate for all ages and levels of rowing. It applies sculling technique, with symmetrical rowing motion that is more developmentally appropriate for youth and beginner rowers. In addition, many elite rowers spend time in singles during the off season or fall season to correct any muscular imbalances, and work on improving individual rowing technique.
Single scull is the most responsive boat out of all boat classes. The boat itself becomes a teaching tool that provides instant feedback to all technical imperfections, and forces you to make immediate adjustments to your rowing stroke.
A single will expose every flaw in your rowing technique, and will help you find the right way to make necessary corrections.
Once you master the Single, you are ready to row in all other boat classes.
Also, to go out in a Single, you don't need other people. You can do it when it fits your own schedule, and you can row at your own pace and level. At the same time, you can choose to practice with other single scullers, and still get the benefits of teamwork, enjoy the camaraderie, and experience high levels of motivation by challenging yourself against other single scullers.
